Symphony orchestras have developed over the course of almost three centuries. Throughout this period, the creations of great composers have provided them with new techniques, sounds and instruments. Despite the passing of time and trends, this orchestral format has endured as a symbol of the power, greatness and emotion of music.

Schubert, Brahms and the Lied

Two of the greatest composers of all time, brought together by a musical format that is simple yet filled with expression: the Lied. The emergence of this genre is closely linked to the birth of Romanticism, and they both share some of the main goals of classical music: to move a person’s feelings and express deep emotions.

Great violinists

Beethoven's Ninth Symphony

The great icon of orchestra compositions that without a doubt split the history of symphonic music into two is Beethoven’s Ninth. Although we are familiar with its melodies, to gain a better understanding of the context we must comprehend the connections between the text and the music along with the history of its creation. This is one of the few works that are timeless yet also convey their era.
